THE ART OF DJ’ING (ages 8-11)
With Jeannie Hopper
The art of DJ’ing never fails to fascinate. In this workshop, WBAI DJ Jeannie Hopper shows kids the ins and outs of DJing – from the basics of spinning vinyl records on turntables, to the art of mixing from one song to the next, and how to use turntables as a musical instrument. Following the demonstrations, kids will get to go hands on with turntables and microphones to learn how to get the party started right!
JUNK PERCUSSION JAM (ages 9-14)
With Andrew Drury
Composer/Percussionist Andrew Drury invites kids to form a percussion band that drums, improvises, and composes using plastic buckets, garbage cans, metal, and more! Guaranteed to be a blast of loud energy and excitement.
WORKSHOP IN SOUND & MOVEMENT (ages 7-10)
With Tatyana Tenenbaum and Brandin Steffensen
Tatyana and Brandin will lead the class in an imaginative exploration of improvised sound and movement. Come prepared to sing, and move, and create sound through space! No experience is necessary, playfulness required. Instruments welcome!
