Joseph Kubera, New Music for Piano

Monday, May 18, 20158:00 pm

Contemporary piano star Joseph Kubera performs the world premiere of Christian Wolff’s Sailing By and Stuart Saunders Smith’s Thicket, as well as John King’s  Piano Diaries, Pan Fried by Phill Niblock, small gems by David Mahler, and perhaps some surprises.

“I think he may well be this era’s David Tudor—virtuosic, smart as hell, far more eclectic in his tastes than you might think, with a marathoner’s strength to deal with any transcendental performance challenge.”
—   Robert Carl,  Fanfare Magazine 2009

Pianist Joseph Kubera has been a leading interpreter of contemporary music for the past three decades. Recent activities include a new solo CD (Book of Horizons) for New World Records and a video of Cage’s Music of Changes for Swiss RSI Television.
