Since 1996, the Vision Festival has been New York's premiere festival of free/avant-garde/experimental/world jazz music bringing together visionaries from New York and all over the world for dynamic collaborations, the exploration of new sounds, and to foster multicultural and multigenerational dialogue.
Roulette welcomes back Vision Festival 18 to our performance stage for 5 evenings of wall-to-wall programming, beginning Wednesday, June 12 through Sunday, June 16, with extraordinary performances from Milford Graves, William Parker, Roy Campell, Joe McPhee, Marshall Allen, Amiri Baraka, Hamid Drake, Roscoe Mitchell, Mary Halvorson, Craig Taborn, Henry Grimes, among others, along with a robust multimedia program that features dance, poetry, film, and panel discussions with artists.
Vision Festival 18 – Improvisation / Freedom / Revolution – continues for its fourth day of full programming beginning at 12:30 PM with a vibrant panel discussion and showcases of local youth jazz ensembles, and beginning at 7:30 PM, an evening of explosive sets from Tomas Fujiwara & The Hook Up, Davis / Revis / Cyrile Trio, Simmons / Burrell Duo, and concluding with a performance by Reggie Workman WORKz.

Arts For Art, Inc. is a not-for-profit, multi-cultural organization whose purpose is to build awareness and understanding of avantjazz and related expressive movements while encouraging a sense of community amongst artists and their audiences. Our principal activities are the presentation of innovative, creative music, dance, multi-media performances, spoken word, and the exhibition of visual arts and through educational efforts involve a new generation. Since 1996, Art For Art has produced the Vision Festival, beginning in various venues in New York's Lower East Side and at Brooklyn's Roulette performance space since 2012.
