FAQs

Roulette is operating in accordance with guidance issued by the CDC, the NYC Department of Health, as well as state and national occupational health and safety guidance; and utilizes industry-best practices for infection control in event-based environments. The health and safety of our employees, visitors, rental clients, and their guests is our top priority. Please contact us with any questions or concerns.

Feel free to use the space as your blank slate — we simply ask you to respect our theatre and don’t leave your mark (no nails, thumbtacks, etc). If housed in a safe container, candles are permitted in the building.

Roulette does not have in-house catering services nor do we limit your choice of vendor, but we highly recommend using one of our preferred vendors. If you choose to hire a caterer, we require that you work with a licensed and insured caterer.

Yes. Our small kitchen (15’X17’), located next to the ballroom, is equipped with an industrial-sized sink and refrigerator. Given its size and location, it's a perfect prep space for caterers.

Roulette generally requires that all deliveries and pick-ups take place within your rental period. Exceptions can occasionally be made depending on our programming schedule.

Yes. Roulette is housed on the ground floor of a residential building and therefore we respect our neighbors by concluding all amplified music by 12am Monday-Saturday and 11pm on Sundays. An extension to the curfew can be requested but is not guaranteed.

Roulette does not offer ticketing or box office attendants.

Roulette does not offer any Marketing or PR support.

You may run and host an open bar to serve complimentary drinks (fee applies). Alternatively, Roulette can operate a cash bar.

It is the renter’s responsibility to restore the theatre to its original state, including removing all decorations, rental equipment and general clean-up. Trash must be brought to the "Refuse Room" in Roulette's basement. If you have hired a caterer for your event, it is the caterer's responsibility to leave the kitchen and any other prep spaces clean.

We require a $1,200.00 refundable security deposit, a 50% non-refundable down payment of the space rental fee, and a signed contract to secure the date for your event. The remaining 50% is due 30 days prior to the event. If your event is canceled within 30 days of the scheduled date, the full Space Rental Cost is forfeited.

Roulette can accommodate both live and pre-recorded acts with our full soundsystem and backline. We are equipped with  a professional-level lighting grid set with movable spotlights and color changing LEDs — and offer 5 complimentary lighting looks to create everything from an elegant cocktail hour to a great dance party! If you would like to project an image or play a video, we're equipped with 2 large screens (13.5’ x 21.6’ and  11.25 'x 20') and a corresponding HD projector.

Roulette provides one Event Liaison (a Roulette representative on duty to provide assistance and help oversee the facility and staff, but who will not help to coordinate your event) as well as one AV engineer

Roulette requires that 1 security guard is on-site when the capacity of the space reaches 200 (inclusive of staff, performers, guests, etc.) and 2 security guards when the capacity reaches 300. Staffing is coordinated by Roulette and the cost is borne by the renter.

You will be asked to provide Commercial General Liability Insurance on an occurrence basis with a minimum combined single limit of liability for bodily injury, personal injury, and property damage of no less than $1,000,000. If you are not able to provide the mentioned coverage and add Roulette to an existing policy as an additional insured we can direct you to a renter's liability policy you can purchase online.

We require event attendees under the age of 16 to be accompanied by an adult.

Founded in 1978, Roulette is a non-profit presenting organization that supports new and adventurous art in all disciplines. Our rental program directly supports our programming.
