Sunday, January 12, 20208:00 pm

In the first time collaboration between innovative sound artists Todd Barton, Rachelle Rahmé, and Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe, the trio will tonally sculpt a hypnotic sci-fi dreamscape.

The evening will begin with a solo improvisation by Todd Barton, followed by a duo of Todd and Rachelle Rahmé, who will be doing a reading from her science fiction novella, Superveillance, published earlier this year by art edition press Aventures Ltd. This duo will be followed by a solo improvisation from Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe for voice and modular synthesizer. The finale will be a trio improvisation between Barton, Rahmé, and Lowe.

Rachelle Rahmé – Processed Voice and Electronics

Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe is an artist, curator and publisher focused on ecstatic movement and sound. His time based performance works utilize the voice, gesture and electronics to explore concepts trance and illusion with a direct investigation of sound as object and sculpting tool.

Todd Barton is obsessed with sound. He is continuously exploring new sonic universes and sharing his discoveries from the world of analog modular synthesis. After decades of composing music for theatre, radio, orchestras, string quartets and film, he has devoted the past seven years to sculpting electrons with solo performances on the Buchla Music Easel.

Rachelle Rahmé is an artist, writer and curator who’s recent works have been “Superveillance,” a science fiction novella published by Aventures Ltd. Art Press and “Count Thereof Upon the Other’s Limbs,” new works of poetry published by Cixous 72. Her sonic output is a swirling combination of electronics, voice, electric bass, field recordings, and rhythm machines that convey warm and gauzy landscapes.
