Y’All of New York presents “But Wait, It’s Not Over Yet!”, the Ninth Annual Friends of the Family Awards Concert: honoring James Jabbo Ware, his music and 70th birthday.

Y’All of New York will be celebrating James “Jabbo” Ware’s birthday at the Ninth Annual Friend of the Family Awards Concert on Friday, October 26, 2012 in Brooklyn, New York at the beautiful Roulette. There will be a reception with wine and light fare at 7:30pm.

Performances by Me, We, and Them Orchestra (MWTO) led by saxophonist, composer and dynamic leader James “Jabbo” Ware, The Susan E. Wagner HS Jazz Band directed by Paul Corn and special guest start at 8:30pm.

The Susan E. Wagner HS Jazz Band led by Paul Corn, is part of the Y’All of New York Mentorship Program. A tribute to James “Jabbo” Ware by the students will be presented at this event.

Y’All of New York presents works by saxophonist, composer and dynamic leader James “Jabbo” Ware, performed by the Me, We and Them Orchestra. The performance will be one of the highlights of this 70th birthday celebration.

James “Jabbo” Ware, an inspiring band leader, artist, has appeared in the illustrious big bands of Albert King, Oliver Nelson, Sam River, Collective Black Artists, Frank Foster and the Loud Minority, Dollar Brand, Jackie Byard, Archie Shepp, Charles Mingus, Slide Hampton, Tito Puente, Eddie Palmieri, Hilton Ruiz, Henry Threadgill, Spike Lee, J.J. Johnson, Muhal Richard Abrams, Roscoe Mitchell, Jimmy Heath, Gil Evans, Ron Carter, Bill Lowe, Wesleyan University Symphonic Orchestra, John Stubblefield, Hilton Ruiz, Hamiet Bluiett from 1962-1973. Mr. Ware founded The Me We And Them Orchestra (MWTO), a 14-Piece Ensemble in 1973 to perform original composition and Y’ALL of New York, Inc. was established in 1991 to support this work. Y’All of New York invites you to join “But Wait, It’s Not Over Yet!”, the Ninth Annual Friends of the Family Awards Concert: honoring James Jabbo Ware, his music and 70th birthday.
