Each member of the group is a renowned soloist and composer in their own right, with a varied orchestral range. This performance will consists of compositions written in 2025 as well as new pieces specifically for this event, all stitched together to comprise a 90 minute, abstract music-drama.

Joel Ross vibraphone, synth, percussion
Nick Joz bass, synth
Tyshawn Sorey drums, percussion
Alice Teyssier flutes, voice
DoYeon Kim gayageum, voice
Mazz Swift violin, voice

A livestream will be available free of charge at 8pm on the day of the performance and archived for future viewing.

Being & Becoming was formed by trumpeter and composer Peter Evans in 2017. The group has become Evans’ primary band and compositional outlet, synthesizing both an enormous range of influences, as well as the incredible stylistic diversity of the band members. The group has released three albums, their eponymous debut in 2020, the symphonic work Ars Memoria in 2022, and Ars Ludicra in 2025, recorded at Van Gelder Studio. All three albums were released on Evans’ label More is More. Joel Ross and Nick Joz have been constant presences in the band, and in 2025 the group invited Tyshawn Sorey to play drums and percussion, beginning a new chapter in the groups’ development. The band in this iteration has appeared at the Longplay Festival in NYC, the Monheim Triennale (with the addition of three vocalists) and is touring the West Coast in 2026, with future festival appearances planned for later in 2026.
