Lambkin is a DMV-born musician, composer, and director. Charged with a kinetic upbringing through rigorous dance training, the Brooklyn-based artist attunes R&B/soul aural traditions and experiments in electronic music to the pulse of the heart, head, and body, exhuming new Black sonic forms in the process. Lambkin has collaborated with artists such as keiyaA, Cleo Reed, Ms. Boogie, André 3000, and OHYUNG.
Akin to the greatest of poets, Kambaba Jasper is an examiner of the uncanny; that which opens amidst and ruptures our sense of the mundane. Beneath the magnifying glass of experimental electronic music, the Fayetteville, North Carolina musician holds, distends, and recaptures the profoundly strange and spiritual content of folk, R&B, and gospel music. The result is a sound that pierces like a spicule of ice: startling the sense upon entry and melting, subsumed by organs, soon after.
This performance by Lambkin was commissioned by Roulette, made possible with funds provided by the Jerome Foundation. This performance is presented through Roulette’s GENERATE program, providing over 20 artists each year with in-depth creative and technical support
