Mars 2 Earth

Mars 2 Earth creates music that moves from the heart of space to the funkiest underground. Bringing together Philly free jazz legend Byard Lancaster, downtown composer Vito Ricci, theremin master Eric Ross and improv percussionist Toshi Makihara, Mars 2 Earth’s music manages at once to be accessible and mysterious, openly melodic and densely knotted. Together, these artists have performed and recorded with a who’s who of contemporary music, including Rashied Ali, Thurston Moore, Andrew Cyrille, John Zorn, and Odean Pope. The group is releasing its first CD, Red Planet, on the Buried Man/Dreambox Media label.
