Yvonne Rogers: Odes

Tuesday, June 9, 20268:00 pm
$25 advance$30 doors$20 Student/Senior (w/ ID, Senior 65+)doors 7pm

Odes is a collection of pieces directly inspired by the musical habits, rituals, and timbres unique to each of Yvonne Rogers‘ collaborators. The compositions combine and expand upon those timbres, recorded and logged during individual meetings with each musician. Music is a profound expression of humanity and practice of gathering. This is crucial in a society that homogenizes and devalues humanity (AI), alienating us from our communities and erasing the imperfections that makes us unique. Odes encourages us to spend time getting to know each other, and to celebrate the magic of our idiosyncrasies.

A livestream will be available free of charge at 8pm on the day of the performance and archived for future viewing.

The Yvonne Rogers Quartet has been performing together since 2024. Their album Brackish recorded in 2025, will be released in 2027. Collaborators Kanoa Mendenhall (bass), Jonas Esser (drums), and Steph Clement (trumpet) are each masters of their instruments while also being surprising, creative, and playful improvisers. Yvonne‘s compositions, while harmonically and rhythmically complex at times, maintain a sense of organic familiarity and accessibility that invites listeners to participate.

Odes, by Yvonne Rogers, was commissioned by Roulette, made possible with funds provided by the Jerome Foundation. This performance is presented through Roulette’s GENERATE program, providing over 20 artists each year with in-depth creative and technical support.
