Optics 0:1: Combinations is the premiere of the second annual multimedia festival directed by Victoria Keddie that examines modalities of creation, production, and performance involving video based technologies. This year’s festival focuses on multi-channel camera recording processes, single channel video, choreography of space, and photographic sound. Each night of the festival focuses on combinations of multi- media within the context of a live performance. Areas of focus are multichannel video camera recording processes and live production, choreography of space and movement, and photographic sound. Non-US-based guest curators have been invited to program video works for each night of the festival.

Victoria Keddie is an artist working in sound, video, and transmission. Keddie works with electromagnetic signal generation and field recording within concentrated energy fields. Of interest are the fluctuations of electromagnetic activity, ionospheric sounding, satellite debris and collision, and time sensitivity. Video works play with notions of the still frame, of image and sound synchronicity and collapse, the stereoscopic image and dimensional spaces. For five years, she has been o-director of E.S.P. TV, a nomadic TV studio that hybridizes technologies to realize synthetic environments and deconstruct the televisual for live performance. In early 2016, UNIT 11 was launched, a mobile transmission based studio and residency operated within an ENG news van. In January 2018, Keddie will launch “Satellite Studio” in Garlock, CA, using a 10 ft C band satellite dish receiver to track LEO space debris for sonic compositions.
