Brooklyn, NY – Coinciding with the release of Serpentines on INTAKT Records, the Ingrid Laubrock Septet will present four compositions that straddle the boundaries of improvisation, new music and avant-jazz. Weaving together Laubrock’s compositions with live processing in multiple simultaneous layers, the four compositions will combine to create an imaginative and evocative whole.
Consisting of seven New York City-based musicians who are significant composers, performers, and improvisers in their own right, the Ingrid Laubrock Septet features the talents of Ingrid Laubrock on tenor saxophone, soprano saxophone, and glockenspiel; Peter Evans on piccolo trumpet and trumpet; Miya Masaoka on koto; Craig Taborn on piano; Sam Pluta on electronics; Dan Peck on tuba; and Tyshawn Sorey on drums.
Originally from Germany, Ingrid Laubrock currently resides in Brooklyn, NY. Between 1989 and 2009 she was active as a saxophonist and composer in London, and has performed and/or recorded with Anthony Braxton, Dave Douglas, Kenny Wheeler, Jason Moran, Tim Berne, William Parker, Tom Rainey, Mary Halvorson, Kris Davis, Tyshawn Sorey, and Craig Taborn, and many others. Ingrid’s current projects as a leader include Anti-House, Sleepthief, Ingrid Laubrock Orchestra, Ingrid Laubrock Sextet, and Ubatuba. She is a member of Anthony Braxton’s Falling River Music Quartet, Nonet and 12+1tet, Tom Rainey Trio and Obbligato, Andrew Drury’s Content Provider, Mary Halvorson Septet, Kris’ Davis Quintet, Nate Wooley’s Battle Pieces, and Luc Ex’ Assemblée.
