The most renowned of John Zorn’s many game pieces, Cobra is one of his landmark works, and the most oft-performed compositions in new music. Completed in October 1984, it premiered to both acclaim and consternation at Roulette that same month. This October, Zorn returns with a spectacular lineup of a dozen of New York’s greatest improvisors to celebrate Cobra’s 40th Birthday.
