SCHEDULE OF LONG PLAY AT ROULETTE 2025:
Friday, May 2
8:00pm – Henry Threadgill’s Listen Ship (World Premiere)
Peter Evans’s Being & Becoming
Saturday, May 3
1:30pm – Mary Halvorson & Bill Frisell duo
4:00pm – Nico Muhly The Street performed by Stef Van Vynckt
6:00pm – Ringdown (Caroline Shaw and Danni Lee Parpan)
8:30pm – Moritz von Oswald Presents: Silencio
10:30pm – Dave King Trucking Company

Starting off the second day of Long Play Festival at Roulette, Mary Halvorson and Bill Frisell take the stage in the afternoon for a duo performance in tribute to jazz guitar legend Johnny Smith.

Later on there is a performance of American composer Nico Muhly‘s The Street by Belgian harpist Stef Van Vynckt, whose artistry pushes the expressive boundaries of the instrument, from delicate textures to bold, abrasive sounds and raw, punk-infused energy that continue to redefine contemporary harp music.

Then we’ll hear from Ringdown, the self-described “electronic cinematic pop duo based in Portland, OR and New York, NY” by collaborators Caroline Shaw and Danni Lee Parpan—who between the two of them have a Pulitzer Prize, a handful of Grammys, and a “Best Drum Major” Award.

In the evening there will be a performance by Berlin-based record producer and percussionist Moritz von Oswald. He is revered as a pioneering architect of electronic music who has notably collaborated with Juan Atkins, Carl Craig, and Nils Petter Molvær, and his foundational work with the labels Basic Channel and Rhythm & Sound has indelibly shaped the contours of techno, experimental sound, and electronic music as a whole. In recent years, von Oswald has ventured into avant-garde territories, exploring the intersection of electronic soundscapes and improvisational music with projects like Silencio, which he presents at Roulette.

Closing the night we have Dave King Trucking Company, one of prolific drummer/composer Dave King‘s many bands. This iteration of the Trucking Company band includes Dave King (drums & cymbals), Erik Fratzke (electric guitar), and Chris Morrissey (acoustic bass).

These performances are part of Bang on a Can’s 2025 Long Play Festival, the fourth iteration of this annual powerhouse weekend including over 50 concerts May 2-4, 2025 at various venues in Downtown Brooklyn, featuring stellar lineups of contemporary music all-stars.
