Henry Threadgill’s Double Up Ensemble, Night 1

Roulette presents two nights of Henry Threadgill’s Double-Up ensemble as he personally honors the 50th Anniversary of the AACM.  On December 14th he pre-releases “Old Locks and irregular Verbs” (Pi Records) a piece dedicated to Lawrence D. Butch Morris. On December 15th, Threadgill premiers a new commission “Double-Up plays Double Up Plus” and is joined by a third guest pianist, David Bryant.  “Double-Up plays Double Up Plus” is dedicated to Ahmad Jamal, Barry Harris, Eddie Palmieri, Muhal Richard Abrams, Cecil Taylor and Joseph Kubera.
