Roulette Radio & Podcast

Roulette’s robust radio presence spreads across a variety of terrestrial and streaming channels. Our monthly program Tracking the Odds is broadcast on Wave Farm’s WGXC, and each show is archived online. David Weinstein’s weekly Ridgewood Radio show–available on WFMU’s freeform streaming channel–also heavily features concerts performed and recorded at Roulette over the last 40+ years. Roulette’s SoundCloud, accessible from our website, also has a curated, optimized playlist.

Feeding all of this is the incredible Roulette Archive, comprising over 2,500 audio and video recordings of Roulette concerts dating to 1980, all available free and on-demand. The collection includes rare and previously unheard concert tapes from Arthur Russell, Derek Bailey, Shelley Hirsch, Tony Conrad, Billy Bang, Jin Hi Kim, Christian Marclay, and thousands more.

Podcast: The Roulette Tapes

Roulette invites you to experience our podcast, The Roulette Tapes. Combining artist interviews and concert excerpts, these 28-minute audio snapshots offer candid, tightly edited, and smartly-produced journeys into experimental music performed and recorded at Roulette. Produced by Roulette co-founder and archivist David Weinstein and radio veteran Susan James, the podcast collection includes profiles of Zeena Parkins, Val Jeanty, Ka Baird, William Parker, Elliott Sharp, and many more. The podcast is available on Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, Brooklyn Free Speech Radio, and elsewhere, and we add a new episode on the first day of each month. The Roulette Tapes is a 2021 Webby Honoree in Music.

Wave Farm | Tracking the Odds: The Roulette Concert Archive

Tracking The Odds: The Roulette Concert Archive is a monthly hour-long radio special produced by Roulette Intermedium (roulette.org) and broadcast in partnership with Wave Farm’s WGXC 90.7-FM and Standing Wave Radio. The broadcasts feature selected highlights from Roulette’s New York experimental music space dating from the early 1980s to the present. Thousands of rare, formative, and often unheard recordings by innovators and adventurous musicians populate the archive.
Tracking The Odds airs the fourth Monday of each month at 3 p.m. ET and is archived at wavefarm.org.
