Selwa Abd is a Moroccan-born interdisciplinary artist and composer based in New York City, working under the alias Bergsonist.
Her multidisciplinary practice critically examines the evolving relationship between technology, identity, and virtual realities, drawing from the complexities of post-colonial urban environments. Through electroacoustic performances, she crafts intuitive terrains for exploration, informed by minimalism, musique concrète and experimental traditions. Frequently incorporating video art into her live sets, she builds immersive, speculative worlds shaped by contemporary socio-political landscapes.
ASL أصل ⴰⵙⵍ is a one-hour multimedia performance exploring ancestry and Amazigh heritage. Developed after visiting her great-grandfather’s shrine near Errachidia, Morocco, the work dives into Abd’s roots—reimagining the past while envisioning the future.
Abd will be joined by Moe Elgad, a Gnawa musician, for a portion of the set.
A livestream will be available free of charge at 8pm on the day of the performance and archived for future viewing.
