Join Dancewave in celebrating dance, diversity, and community in Brooklyn! The Dancewave Gala is a night honoring arts philanthropists and those in our community who help Dancewave provide youth development through dance. An exciting fundraiser to spread awareness in support of our mission: Transforming lives through dance, the night will also feature performances by Dancewave Company & Ensemble members. This year’s honorees include:
Laurie Cumbo, NYC Council Member & Founder of MoCADA Museum
Laurie Cumbo represents the 35th District in Brooklyn, and currently serves as Chair of the Women’s Issues Committee. She has been an aggressive champion of women’s workforce equality, including gender pay equity, parental rights, and reproductive rights.
Mia Michaels, Creator, Director, & Choreographer
Mia Michaels is a three-time Emmy Award winning choreographer widely known for her work as a judge and choreographer on So You Think You Can Dance. Currently, Mia is in New York choreographing for the Radio City Rockettes’ New York Spectacular.
Wendy Evans Joseph, Founder of Studio Joseph & Fellow of American Institute of Architects
Wendy Evans Joseph is the Founding Partner of New York City architectural practice Studio Joseph. Studio Joseph, in collaboration with the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, have designed and will renovate Dancewave’s new facilities in their first Capital Project at 182 Fourth Avenue Brooklyn.
