Ear Heart Music Presents International Contemporary Ensemble and JACK Quartet Jason Eckardt’s “Subject” (Tzadik CD release party)

Tuesday, May 19, 20158:00 pm

In its last concert, finishing its final season as a presenter, Ear Heart Music presents star power with the International Contemporary Ensemble and the JACK Quartet performing works from Jason Eckardt’s new CD “Subject” (Tzadik Records) and music by Tzadik founder John Zorn, including the world premiere of Autumn Rhythm. These two groups join forces with soloists Tony Arnold, soprano; Jay Campbell, ‘cello; and Jordan Dodson, guitar performing works off the new record as well as John Zorn’s string quartet Necronomicon and the world premiere of Autumn Rhythm. The JACK Quartet and Ear Heart Music technical team will fully realize for the first time Eckardt’s title track, a work that confronts “enhanced interrogation” techniques using sound and light, including a complex, immersive lighting design conceived by the composer. Ms. Arnold and conductor David Fulmer will lead ICE in a gripping performance of Eckardt’s Tongues, a work that explores glossolalia, or “speaking in tongues,” and evokes the volatile possession that holds the human vessels through which the divine or supernatural passes. Guitarist Jordan Dodson performs Eckardt’s stunningly virtuosic Paths of Resistance.
