Interpretations: Thomas Buckner Performs Bun Ching Lam, Karen Power, “Blue” Gene Tyranny, & More

Baritone Thomas Buckner and friends present a concert of new works for voice, instruments, and electronics, and two new instrumental works. Buckner and pianist Joseph Kubera give the New York premiere of “Blue” Gene Tyranny’s newly commissioned work “Solving Scriabin’s Chord”, and Kubera performsTyranny‘s “The Drifter”, for solo piano. The program includes the World Premiere of “Quack Moo Sigh”, an exciting new work for voice and electronic fixed media by Irish composer Karen Power. Buckner is also joined by Michel Gentile performing on flute, and Adam Cockerham performing on the Renaissance stringed instrument the therobo, for Bun Ching Lam’s new setting of the great Renaissance poet Petrarch’s “Canzoniere CXXVI”. The same trio will perform Michel Gentile’s “Three Haiku”, with Cockerham on guitar. Cockerham will perform a contemporary solo work for therobo: composer Kyle Hovatter’s “Track II”.
