“New Age East West Harmolodic Opera Groove” by Japanese-born vocalist/improvisor Mari Okubo integrates elements of various kinds of opera, jazz, pop, contemporary, Japanese traditional and avant-garde music, transcending the boundaries between East and West. Some of the songs she will sing tonight were written specially for her by Ornette Coleman with whom she has performed around the world.
