Michael Harrison

Sunday, November 14, 19999:00 pm

Performing on the “harmonically tuned” piano, Harrison continues the legacy of his mentors, the minimalist composers La Monte Young and Terry Riley, and the legendary North Indian vocalist Pandit Pran Nath. Harrison’s music and unique tuning scheme draw upon overtone-based scales and just intonation from the Pythagorean tradition of ancient Greece, as well as India, China and pre-Baroque Europe. His mesmerizing and exotic Indian raga/African rhythm-inspired compositions shimmer and illuminate.
