Min Xiao-Fen is one of the most outstanding pipa soloists performing today. She is not only well versed in traditional repertoire but is also a master of contemporary pipa music. BBC Music Magazine recently hailed Min’s recording, The Moon Rising, as one of the “Best CD’s of 1996”. This year a solo CD on John Zorn’s Avant label will be released which includes works by Tan Dun and Chen Yi, among others. At Roulette she will play traditional and modern compositions plus improvisations with trombonist, Jim Staley.
