ODE is an occasional trio of Ochs, Dunn and Ellis who have known each other since they all lived in the San Francisco Bay Area where they first hooked up. All, for example, appeared on a Ben Goldberg septet CD in 1999. Since 2005 the trio has performed annually usually with a different guest-percussionist, performing compositions by band members and improvisations. Michael Sarin recorded with Ochs, Dunn and Ellis on the previously mentioned CD. This will be his first appearance with ODE.
