POSTPONED: Robert Dick’s SoundCarrier will be rescheduled for a later date….

Sunday, March 15, 20098:30 pm

SoundCarrier is lead by futuristic flutist Robert Dick and features Miya Masaoka, koto and electronics; Ursel Schlicht, piano; Satoshi Takeishi, percussion and Isaac Jaffe, bass. The music will be sound and groove inspired by Miles Davis’ music of the Bitches Brew period – with our own take on it all. Dick has taken on Jimi Hendrix’s music with great success — and now he’s transmogrifying the work of Miles Davis, another of his core inspirations.

“A flutist whose technical resources and imagination seem limitless.”
– New York Times

With deep roots in free improvisation, new jazz and classical music old and new, Robert Dick has established himself as an artist who has redefined the flute. He has utterly dispensed with preconceptions about what a flutist should sound like and what a flutist should play. He treats the flute as a human-powered synthesizer, his music going wherever his imagination and boundless chops flow to at any moment.
