Scott Wollschleger: Between Breath Record Release show

Thursday, June 27, 20248:00 pm

A night of arresting timbres and conceptual original music celebrating the album release of Scott Wollschleger’s Between Breath. Compositions by Wollschleger – recently described as “a small masterpiece” by The New York Times – will be performed by violin/violist Miranda Cuckson, percussionist Kevin Sims, trombonist William Lang, and pianists Karl Larson and Anne Rainwater, all close collaborators of Wollschleger. The program will be highlighted by the New York premiere of a major new work for solo violin: Secret Machine No. 7; as well as the New York premieres of Between Breath for trombone and piano, Lost Anthems for viola and piano, and Fish of the Sea for percussion and voice.

“Scott Wollschleger possesses an ear for fresh notes, and delivers them in a slow and almost terrifying manner: Morton Feldman meets Thelonious Monk meets H.P. Lovecraft.” – Ethan Iverson

Miranda Cuckson viola and violin
William Lang trombone
Karl Larson piano
Anne Rainwater piano
Kevin Sims percussion and voice

A livestream will be available free of charge at 8pm on the day of the performance and archived for future viewing. Watch below or on YouTube.
