In May 2012, Kathleen Supové received the John Cage Award from ASCAP for “the artistry and passion with which she performs, commissions, records, and champions the music of our time.” She is one of America’s most acclaimed and versatile new music pianists, continually redefining what a pianist/keyboardist/performance artist is today. Ms. Supové presents solo concerts under the title of THE EXPLODING PIANO. A striking presence onstage, she has performed with computers, robots, and laptop orchestra. Recently, she premiered a 2 hour long, immersive composition, “Achilles Dreams of Ebbets Field,” by Dylan Mattingly, as well as a kickboxing concerto, “Battery,” by Randall Woolf. Recent projects include two solo CDs: The Debussy Effect, released on New Focus Recordings in October 2016; the other, title TBA, with vocalizing, extended techniques, and noise-based effects, which will be released on Starkland in 2018.
