Presenting his new drum-less band The Transparent Quartet, Johnston aims to combine the discipline and dynamics of a chamber music group with the energy and freedom of a jazz combo. With Joe Ruddick- piano, keyboards, bari-sax; Jeff Berman- vibes; David Hofstra- bass; saxman Johnston will perform original works and original arrangements of music by Debussy, Chopin, Mingus, Art Pepper, and Steve Lacy.
