GABRIELLE HERBST
Hot and cold spaces in nature and fantasy, born at Robert Wilson’s The Watermill Center and developed in Brooklyn. Composed by Gabrielle Herbst (voice and electronics) in collaboration with Matthew O’Koren, percussion, Josh Henderson, violin, and Rick Quantz, viola, joined by Contemporaneous featuring: David Bloom, conductor, Brad Cherwin, clarinet, Dylan Mattingly, electric guitar, Maxwell McKee, piano, Leila Bordreuil, cello, Finnegan Shanahan, violin. http://www.contemporaneous.org

Gabrielle Herbst resides in Brooklyn. She studied composition at Bard College. As a featured vocalist she has performed with Marina Rosenfeld’s Teenage Lontano in the Whitney Biennial, Da Capo Chamber Players at Bard College, Beyond the Mind at the 2009 Russian American Cultural Center Gala at the Ana Tzarev Gallery, The Green Death at Saint Mark’s Church, Allie Tsypin’s Low Culture Symphony at the former convent of St. Cecilia’s Parish, Brooklyn, at La MaMa E.T.C, and as a vocalist for Zeena Parkins and Elliott Sharp. Premiered compositions at Roulette Intermedium, The Stone, Cabinet Magazine’s Exhibition Space, Club Helsinki, and HERE Arts Center. Recipient of the 2011 Artist Residency at Robert Wilson’s Watermill Center in partnership with New York Theater Workshop.
